Last night I had the chance to do something I'd never done before -- I sat in a tv studio during the filming of a public access tv show. I can't say that was ever on my List Of Things To Do, but it was great fun.
Sol called me yesterday afternoon to let me know that one of his current projects, the
Tim Smith Band, was going to be featured on
Monday Night Alive, a live show on local cable channel 10. He invited me along as his guest. The host tended to ramble and the camera work was kind of silly at times, but the band rocked for an hour while the other guest, the drummer's girlfriend, and I sat in the part of the studio normally used to interview politicians. I had this terrible fear that they were going to turn up our lights, swing the camera around, and start asking us questions about current events. Luckily they didn't and we could sit and enjoy the show in darkness.
(For
base10: Tim Smith is formerly of the Squirrel Nut Zippers and the guitarist, Mitchell Rothrock, plays with the Dynamite Brothers.)
Pint night at the Saucer ensued. A great time was had by all.
Monday Night Alive repeats at midnight on Wednesday and 5pm on Saturday. I can't vouch for the production quality, but the music is excellent. The Tim Smith Band will be playing at the Warehouse Blues series in downtown Durham on August 12th. I'll be there.

Well, so much for my theory that y'all had broadened your low-commitment alcoholic inclusiveness.
