Man, what does it say about me that I've actually had all four of the items listed under #67?

So what is Spaetzel?

That you are a man with a preference for fried dough. Mmm... fried dough.

Spaetzel is what they call macaroni in Germany.

I have another question: what does VGT mean? Because I'd like to post my own OH on my LJ. :)

The list originally came from a blog called Very Good Taste.

I've had Nettle Tea - wait until you're pregnant and you will too (assuming your iron is low, and you have a midwife)

yikes... she couldn't just recommend beef? Or kale? Or molasses?

Well, I am a vegetarian (and so is she) but yes, she did recommend kale and blackstrap molasses too.

But, actually, nettle tea is lovely.

Well, I guess that's a pretty good excuse for not eating beef as a first line of defense against iron deficiency.

And as indicated (below), I've never had nettle tea... though I have an affinity for leafy green vegetables that means I'll probably never be deficient in a good handful of nutrients including iron :) (not that iron deficiency is particularly common in American men).

...Amber doesn't like leafy greens so much (I make her eat them sometimes, but usually things like spinach and chard rather than the good meaty kales and collards and turnip greens), but I think her beef and broccoli affinities will probably keep the deficiencies away... but it'll be hard to know before then :)

peace,

--me

I think that low iron is a common symptom of pregnancy, but I suspect most American men don't have that issue :_)

Beef and broccoli will probably help.

You've never had baba ghanoush? How does that happen? And, the bride at the wedding we met at is excited to make head cheese from her wedding pig. Shudder.

I'm not 100% sure I haven't had baba ghanoush--but I've never cared much for eggplant, so I wasn't seeking that one out.

...Much as I enjoyed that pig, and was entertained by the layout at the head table, I can't imagine making head cheese outta it. Yikes.

peace to you,

--me

PS: Was sorry we didn't get to talk more while we were there--somehow I met you for long enough to say hello and that was about it, and then never got to talk at the reception. Was nice to meet you however briefly, though!

I love eggplant (but Dh doesn't, so I get it a lot when we are out) so I actively look for it. It just seems so Antiochian that I'd be sure you'd run across it.

I didn't see those photos yet, the wedding was lovely. I was also disapointed to not get to talk to you and your lovely bride more either, I ended up in the kitchen longer than I expected to be.

...well, me being Catholic and all, I can be a pretty effective holdout against the nefarious spread of Antiochian eggplant. ;)

and, alas! I guess next time we'll just have to see more of you.

Peace,

--me

Indeed! We must!

I guess I figured it was an Antochian creep, just like Baklava with my non-Orthodox hubby!
